Organise wildlife camera locations, service dates and field assumptions.
Plan when to revisit wildlife trail cameras using your own estimates for battery life, storage use and desired maintenance interval. Add each placement separately.
Storage days = usable GB × 1,000 ÷ (MB per event × events per day), using decimal units. Planned service gap is the whole-day floor of the smallest of preferred interval, assumed battery endurance and storage days. Zero expected events leaves storage unconstrained. A gap below one day is flagged for revision instead of creating a daily plan. Each service assumes fresh batteries and emptied storage. Capture bursts, false triggers, temperature and actual file sizes can change endurance; these are your assumptions, not manufacturer ratings. Site access and placement permissions must fit your outing.
Entered observation and deployment dates support 1900–2100. These tools use the local dates you enter; they do not infer time zones or submit records to a monitoring programme.
Instructions
- Enter Plan length from each deployment (days) and select Apply plan length.
- Add Placement / camera label, Site / general location and Deployment date.
- Enter your service, battery, storage, file-size and daily-event assumptions, then select Add record.
- Review the planned visits and keep them with Export CSV, Download text or Print results.
Understanding your results
The service gap uses the smallest of your preferred interval, battery endurance and estimated storage days, rounded down to whole days. It assumes each visit refreshes batteries and empties storage. More false triggers or larger event files can bring a visit forward.
What to do if a camera is flagged instead of receiving a service schedule
One of your assumptions may give less than one day of endurance. Check Average event file size (MB), Usable storage (decimal GB) and Expected capture events per day. Revise the setup or assumptions rather than treating the warning as a safe daily plan.
Using this tool in your browser
These entries are handled in your browser. Saving is off by default; enable the storage checkbox to retain this tool’s records on this device. Other people using the same browser may see them. Clearing site data removes the saved copy. Export a separate backup before changing devices or resetting entries.
Summary
Use your first deployment results to improve the assumptions for the next service plan.
