Create reproducible observation bingo boards for an outdoor group.
Spot or hear a prompt, then tick its square. Complete a row, column or diagonal for bingo. The same seed, habitat, size and free-square setting reproduce a board. Prompts are unique within a board; different seeds may occasionally give the same board.
Observe from safe paths without collecting or disturbing wildlife. Generate another board if a prompt is unavailable; you do not need every square.
Instructions
- Choose Habitat and Board size.
- Enter Board seed (same settings reproduce a board) and Board title. Choose whether to include a free centre square.
- Select Generate. Use New seed to make another version for your group.
- Tick squares as you spot or hear each prompt, then use Download results or Print.
Understanding your results
A row, column or diagonal completes bingo. The same habitat, size, seed and free-square setting reproduce the board. Different seeds can occasionally lead to the same arrangement. Prompts encourage observation; they do not predict which wildlife will be present today.
What to do if a square cannot be found on your route
Try another seed or agree with your group to skip that prompt. You do not need every square. Keep to suitable paths and observe without collecting, tasting plants or disturbing wildlife for the sake of completing a board.
